Industry Analysis & Energy Efficiency Strategy

In from the cold: Strategies to increase the energy efficiency of non-domestic refrigeration in Australia and New Zealand, is a trans- Tasman 10 year strategy, jointly developed by the Federal Department of Climate Change and ECCA in New Zealand to improving the energy efficiency of equipment throughout the entire non-domestic refrigeration sector.

The assignment involved preparing product/application profiles and industry consultation in the following categories across the refrigerated cold food chain:

  • Supermarket and food retail
  • Walk in coolroom equipment and insulation
  • Horizontal measures including high efficiency compressors and fans
  • Beverage coolers (beer cooling and post-mix equipment)
  • Industrial refrigeration, cold storage facilities and chillers
  • Mobile refrigeration (road and marine transport refrigeration)
  • Dairy farms (milk vat refrigeration)

The strategy paper and associated technical volumes can be viewed on www.energyrating.gov.au.
